Since gaining her degree in Fine Art in London, Kate Wyatt has become renowned for her wildlife paintings which capture the real essence of some of Britainís most popular mammals. She works primarily in watercolour using the particular chemistry of this medium to interpret the movements and characteristics of her subjects.
Kate has retained her passion for dancing, music and the opera (she enjoyed a former career as a professional flamenco dancer), which can be seen in her in her loose yet rhythmic style of painting. This passion is finding its way into her work not only stylistically but also in subject matter. Work is underway on a series of large- scale bird and animal portraits that have been inspired by myth, fairytale, ballet and shamanic ritual. Swans, firebirds and cranes are just some of the birds being magically formed on paper in Kateís studio.
As well as creating a more fantastical menagerie, Kate continues to look closer to home and is working on a series of cats inspired by her own much loved studio cat and is also working on a childrenís book, which she has written and is now illustrating.
Kateís paintings are held in many private collections worldwide and she has had many successful exhibitions.
Kate has established herself as a gifted wildlife artist and continues to delight with her unique interpretations of nature.
